Obituary of Henry Usyk

Henry Usyk 1936 – 2017 Schuyler Henry Usyk, 80, a lifelong, Schuyler resident, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY. He was born in Schuyler, on July 10, 1936, the son of Walter and Sophia Zak Usyk and attended local schools. On November 4, 1972, he was united in marriage to Patricia Sroka in Holy Trinity Church, a blessed union of forty-four years until her passing on January 21, 2017. Henry and Patricia owned and operated the family farm in Schuyler, and later, was employed by the Town of Schuyler Highway Department. He enjoyed his family, caring for the farm, gardening, music and played the accordion for many years. Henry was a long time parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, and at one time served as an usher. Henry is now reunited with his beloved wife, Patricia. His survivors include his son, Gary Usyk ,and grandchildren, Kyle and Alexandria Usyk all of New Hartford; brother –in- law, Gary Sroka of Schuyler; brother - in- law, Stanley and sister- in- law, Charlene Usyk, of Schuyler; sisters –in- law, Eva Usyk, of Schuyler, Dolores Usyk, of Clinton and Dolores Usyk of Utica. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Sroka and his seven brothers, Jerry, Michael, Joseph, Andrew, Stanley, Albert, and Frank Usyk. The family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses, doctors and staff of the Presbyterian Home who provided special care and compassion to Henry during his stay. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Those who wish may call on Tuesday from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Ave. Utica. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
