Obituary of Maria Tarnowski

Maria Wanda (Chwastek) Tarnowski 1930 – 2017 Utica Maria Wanda (Chwastek) Tarnowski, 86, entered into eternal rest on, May 24, 2017, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Bizorenda, Poland, August 20, 1930, daughter of the late Stanley and Josephine (Sobon) Chwastek. Maria moved to the United States in 1963, settling in Utica. On July 29, 1957, she married Antoni Tarnowski, a cherished union shared for 54 years until his passing on March 22, 2012. Maria received her education in Poland and was a loving Mother and Grandmother, always placing her children's and grandchildren's needs above her own. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, and a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society; we will dearly miss her. Survivors include her Daughter, Elizabeth of Marcy; Son, Roman of Utica; 5 Grandchildren: Ashley (and husband Will), Shawn, Ryan, Joshua, & Nicholas; Sisters: Genevieve Cieloch, and Zofia Kot; Brother Joseph Chwastek; Sister-in-law Caroline Tarnowski and many Nieces and Nephews. She was pre-deceased by her Husband Antoni; Son Peter; Sisters, Marianna Chwastek, Johanna Bednarek, Stephanie Bieda, Helena Stefanska; and Brothers, John and Stanley Chwastek. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Those who wish may call on Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Ave. Utica. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
