Obituary of Joseph Julian

Joseph P. Julian 1937 – 2017 New York Mills Joseph P. Julian, 79, a lifelong area resident, passed away on September 15, 2017 at the Pines of Utica after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. He was born in Utica on September 25, 1937, the son of Fred and Helen Julian and attended local schools. Joe proudly served his country with the US Army receiving an honorable discharge. On August 28, 1965 he was united in marriage to Sharon Gorcynski in Holy Trinity Church, a loving union of fifty-two years. Joe was a kind, sincere, and gentle man with big brown eyes and an awesome smile. He enjoyed the many friendships he shared with other residents and loved his caretakers. His survivors include his wife, Sharon Julian, of New York Mills, his son and daughter-in-law; Joseph M. and Colleen Julian, of Chittenango and two grandsons, Triston and Brandon. Also surviving is his brother Ben and three sisters, Josie, Connie, and Helen as well as several nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by his sister Fannie and brothers, Phil, Pete, Emilio and Alfred, as well as his in-laws, Stanley and Emily Gorcynski. Joe's family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to the 3rd floor staff of the Pines for the excellent care and respect shown to Joe during his stay. A special thank you and "May God Bless You!" to Donna Santalucia, Jeannie and Sylvia for the seven years of "TLC" extended to Joe and Sharon. Thank you, to Judy Balch, FNP and DR. Alfaro – Berg for their wonderful care and concern. The family would like to offer a very special thank you to "Gomba" Robert Saladino who was Joe's best friend and visited him often; your visits meant the world to him! Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa, 201 Main St., New York Mills. There will be no calling hours; however the family will greet guests at the conclusion of mass. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the New York Mills Fire Department, 1 Maple St., New York Mills, NY 13417 or an animal shelter of your choice.
