Obituary of Ida E. McHarris

Ida B. McHarris 1916 – 2017 Naples, FL/Utica, NY Ida Bally McHarris, 101, passed away on September 7, 2017, surrounded by her loving family in Naples, FL. She was born in Utica on January 28, 1916, the daughter of George and Nadema Chanatry Bally and attended Utica schools. On June 3, 1934 she was united in marriage to Joseph McHarris in St. Louis Gonzaga Church, a loving and blessed union until his passing on, June 14, 1989. In 1955, she and Joseph established, McHarris Gift's from which they retired. While residing in Florida, Ida became a founding member of the Bonita Art League. Her pastels won many juried awards and now adorn the homes of her family and friends. Ida was affectionately called "Maime" by all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ida is survived by survived by her son, George and his wife, Kathleen McHarris, daughter, Nadine and her husband Frank Baxter and a daughter –in- law Ann McHarris. Ten grandchildren, Deborah Cook and her fiancé David Greer, Joseph and Linda McHarris, Karen and Dr. David Chandler, John and Wipharat McHarris, Steven and Patricia McHarris, Dr. Robert and Erin McHarris, Elizabeth and Patrick Kennedy, Adrienne and Michael Wroten, Lori Baxter, and Jill and John Sammon; as well as fifteen great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son Basil J. McHarris, sisters, June Zalatan (John), Mary Garard (Nathaniel) and her brother Anthony Bally (Marie). Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Basil's Greek Melkite Catholic Church. There will be no calling hours; however the family will greet guests after the Mass. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Ida's family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to the staffs of Solaris Imperial Healthcare and Vitas Hospice, Naples for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Ida.
