Obituary of Nellie Polczynski

Nellie Polczynski 1926 – 2018 New York Mills Nellie Polczynski, 91 , a lifelong New York Mills resident passed away on Thursday January 11, 2018 after a brief illness at Faxton – St. Luke's Healthcare. She was born in New York Mills on March 4, 1926 the daughter of Walter and Sophie Kupiec Strzysz and graduated from New York Mills High School. On September 23, 1944 she was married to Edward Polczynski at St. Mary's Church, New York Mills; he died on January 22, 1999. Nellie was employed with General Electric Co. for over 34 years until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church. She also received the Citizens Recognition award New York Mills in 2016. Nellie was an active member of the New York Mills community where she was involved with various organizations some of which include Sacred Heart St. Mary's Church Our Lady of Czestochowa, the Sacred Heart Rosary Society, New York Mills Seniors, and Whitestown Seniors where she was a Tour Director, and the New York Mills Historical Society. She was also President of the Polish National Alliance Group 2066, the Orchard Lake Ladies Auxiliary, the Hilltop Seniors, the Oneida County Board of Elections and the Democratic Club where she worked the voting polls for many years. Nellie was an active volunteer with her church working many of the Church functions throughout her life. Her survivors include her son Edward (Diane) Polczynski of Rome, her cherished grandchildren Michael Przyborowski, Bryan, Bradley (Maura) Polczynski and Britteny (Dan) Stacks; great grandchildren, Krysta Stacks and Cyprianna Polczynski as well a nephew Barney (Roberta) Jachym. She was pre-deceased by her best friend and daughter Sharon Przyborowski and her husband Joseph and her sister Helen Jachym. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart and Saint Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa, New York Mills. Those who wish may call on Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 284 Main St., New York Mills. The members of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society will gather for their services at 5pm.
