Obituary of Marie B. Kran

Marie B. Kran 1923 – 2018 Utica Marie Kran, 94, a lifelong area resident passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in the comfort of her home. She was born in Utica on May 22, 1923 the daughter of Stanley and Stella Brezinski Kowalski and attended Utica Free Academy. On June 10, 1945 she was united in marriage to Henry Kran. He passed away in 1971. Marie was employed for many years with General Electric and retired from the Savings Bank of Utica. Maries grandfather Thomas Kowalski assisted in the construction of Holy Trinity Church (his name appears in the rear of the balcony). She was an active member of the Legion of Mary, the Red Hatters and worked with Deacon Tony Paparella in making rosaries. Marie is survived by her daughter, Susan Hay of Arvada, CO; her niece, Barbara Salkuski of Utica. Also surviving are her two granddaughters, Karen (Barry) Schenck of Westminster, CO and Erika (Christopher) Creach of Thornton, CO; three great grandchildren, Blake, Kendall and Hayley Creach of Thornton, CO as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Helen, Frank, Paul, Victoria, Theodore and Raymond. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Wednesday January 31, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Those who wish may call one hour prior to the Mass at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Ave., Utica. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
