Stephanie M. Gualtieri 1927-2018 Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother About Stephanie Cherished the times spent with her family Loved sewing and was a talented quiltmaker Enjoyed helping others through her knowledge of nutrition, health and wellness Stephanie M. Gualtieri, 91, a lifelong Utica resident, died on March 9, 2018 with her son and longtime caregiver, Loren by her side. She was born in Utica on February 10, 1927, the daughter of the late Utica residents, John Gondek of Szczecin, Poland, and AniellaFusiekGondek of Kamienna, Poland. Stephanie attended Holy Trinity elementary school and was a 1945 graduate of Utica Free Academy. On February 15, 1947, she married Gregory T. Gualtieri in Holy Trinity Church, Utica. They were married for 58 years until Gregory's death in 2005. She was also predeceased by her sister, Estelle Shimkus of Utica, in 1995. Stephanie retired from GNC after a thirty-year career of helping others through her knowledge of nutrition, health and wellness. She was an astrologer. She loved to listen to music. She was an avid reader who particularly enjoyed novels and rarely missed trying to solve puzzles in the morning newspaper. She spent many hours in her garden, where she loved to grow flowers and vegetables, and at her sewing machine, where she created beautiful quilts for her loved ones. Stephanie is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Devlin M. and Anne Gualtieri of Ledgewood, NJ, Dr. Rodney T. and Dr. Ann Gualtieri of Wilmington, DE, Gregory J. and Jacklyn Gualtieri of Berkeley Heights, NJ, Jeffrey P. and Vania Gualtieri of Davie, FL, and Loren P. Gualtieri and Carol Payne of Brooklyn, NY. Stephanie is survived also by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. As requested by Stephanie, there will be no visiting hours.
