Obituary of Christine M. Blum

Christine Blum New York Mills Christine M. Blum, 77, a lifelong area resident passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 unexpectedly at her home. She was born in Utica on March 12, 1941 the daughter of Gladys Record. She was married to Ronald J. Blum on September 16, 1961 in Historic S. John's Church in Utica; he passed away on April 27, 1985. After graduating high school Christine was employed as an LPN with St. Luke's Memorial Hospital and later retired from Slocum Dickson Medical Group in 2008. She was deeply devoted to her family and her Church, Sacred Heart St. Mary's in New York Mills. Christine loved traveling and sampling various cuisines and spending time with her grandchildren. Her kindness and sincere disposition was noticeable by many and will be greatly missed. Her survivors include her three daughters and their spouses, Diane and Craig Veeder of Rotterdam, Denise and Brion Bulak of Utica and Tracy and Vincent Rodriguez of Ballston Spa; and her sister and her husband Judith and Edward Rosinski of Utica and her beloved grandchildren Deke and Carly Veeder, Breanna and Aly Bulak and Andrew and Connor Rodriguez along with several nieces and nephews including Michelle Firlit who's compassion and assistance over the years was greatly appreciated, and many cherished and treasured lifelong friends and neighbors too numerous to mention. She was recently predeceased by her niece Renee (Firlit) Pianka. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10am at the Church of the Sacred Heart/ St. Mary's, New York Mills. There are no calling hours. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus & Casimir Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Kowalczyk Funeral Home 284 Main Street New York Mills.
