Obituary of Dorothy M. Sampson

Dorothy Sampson 1924 – 2018 New Hartford Dorothy M. Sampson, 93, a longtime New Hartford resident passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Presbyterian Home for C.N.Y. She was born in Lyden, NY on October 27, 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Greczak Muha and received her education in local schools. On June 20, 1953 she was united in marriage to Fred Sampson until his untimely passing on September 28, 1989 as a result of an aircraft accident. Dorothy was employed for thirty years with Nichols Department Store and retired from Pharmhouse. She was a parishioner and founding member of St. Thomas Church, New Hartford. Her survivors include her two sons and a daughter –in- law, Ronald Sampson of New York Mills, and James and Elizabeth Sampson of Oriskany; four grandchildren, Michael and JoEllen Sampson of Oriskany, Sarah Sampson of Oriskany, Alex and Stephanie Sampson of Deerfield and Eric Sampson of New York Mills. Also surviving are her two brothers, Joseph and John Muha; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Douglas Sampson, daughter –in- law, Patricia Sampson and her siblings, Michael, Louis, Paul, Catherine, William and Mary. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, New Hartford. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, New York Mills. Dorothy's family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to the Aspen and Maple Units of the Presbyterian Home for all of the wonderful care she received during her stay.
