Dorothy Mardany 1940 – 2018 Utica Dorothy A. Mardany ( Montana), 78, also known as "Dee" was a lifelong area resident passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Faxton – St. Luke's Healthcare with her loving family by her side. She was born in Utica on February 7, 1940 the daughter of John and Anna Bielinski Zimdars and received her education in local schools. Dorothy was employed at the MidYork Library System as a librarian for 30+ years until her retirement. Dorothy was a devoted mother and took pride in cooking for family and friends. There was always an open seat at the table for visitors. She was a fun and caring woman who reached out to lend a helping hand or lift your spirits. Dorothy was fondly known as "Grandma Doggie" by many because of her canine companion "Holly". Her survivors include her daughter, Deborah Montana, of Utica; two sons, and their spouses, Nicholas and Kelli Montana of Watertown, and David and Teresa Montana of Utica along with JR Dorsagno who she referred to as her third son. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Jessica and Stephanie Romanus, Nickole and her husband, Johnathan Lugo Ramirez, Christian Montana and Amelia Montana; great grandchildren; Skylar,Shailynn,Shelby, Princeton, Giada, Tre, Chantal and Natalia. Dorothy is also survived her brother, John and his wife, Barbara Zimdars, of New Hartford, as well as a several nieces and nephews including Gabriella Hope (Mardany). She was predeceased by her parents, brother Richard Zimdars and her sister Norma Wroblewski. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Those who wish may call on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Ave. Utica. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
