Obituary of Gladys V. Kowalski

Gladys V. Kowalski 1925 – 2018 Utica/Clinton Gladys Veronica (Halko) Kowalski, 92, a lifelong Utica resident and currently of Clinton passed away on, August 8, 2018 at the Katherine Luther Home. She was born in Utica on December 20, 1925, the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Bonczak Halko and received her education in local schools. On July 7, 1945 she was united in marriage to Mitchell Kowalski in Holy Trinity Church, Utica, a blessed union of thirty-eight years, until his passing on March 9, 1983. Gladys was employed with the Horrocks – Ibbotson Company and Deller's German Restaurant. She was a lifelong supporter and parishioner of Holy Trinity Church. Gladys took great joy in cooking for her family and friends. Her survivors include her two sons, Mitchell and his wife, Evelyn, of Frankfort, and Dennis of Clinton; a brother, John Halko, of New Hartford; four grandchildren, Kelly and her husband, Daniel Bates of Norwich, Brian, of Utica, Mylissa, and her husband, Sean Davis, of Fairfax, VT., and Chad of Oriskany Falls. Also surviving are her four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Raymond Kowalski and her four sisters, Anna Stiefvater, Mary Konopelsky, Bertha Fakeata and Stella Weiss. Gladys's family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Katherine Luther Home for the wonderful care and compassion she received during her stay with them. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services which will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Ave. Utica.
