Obituary of Mary T. Smolka

Mary T. Smolka 1921 – 2019 New Hartford Mary T. Smolka, 97, a lifelong area resident passed away on Thursday May 9, 2019. She was born in Utica on September 17, 1921 and received her education in local schools. On August 21, 1948 she was united in marriage to Bernard Smolka in Holy Trinity Church, a blessed union until Bernard's passing on July 6, 2002. At one time they both owned and operated a farm in New Hartford. Mary enjoyed gardening, crocheting ,baking and cooking. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Gau and her son, Lance and his wife Valerie Gau , as well as her great grandson Tyler Gau all of Binghamton, NY. She was predeceased by her grandson, Randy Gau. The family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to Stephan, Janice, Jenny, Elizabeth and all of her bingo friends who were so kind to Mary. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday, May16, 2019 at 11a.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Ave., Utica.
